Policy Hub

We Are Youth Mentors is the sector's voice. We are also yours.

The lived experience of every young person being mentored holds policy value. The Policy Hub translates that experience into evidence, advocacy, and action that changes systems locally, nationally, and globally.

We Are Youth Mentors translates lived mentoring experience into evidence that changes the systems young people navigate.

Most advocacy organisations have policy knowledge. We have practice credibility, frontline relationships, and a growing evidence base from mentors and organisations.

The Policy Hub exists to turn that evidence into action. It gives members practical tools and a clear route to advocate where decisions are made.

This is not beyond capacity. It is the next strategic use of what the platform is already building.

Our Approach to Policy Advocacy

Three layers. One clear purpose.

Policy change is sustained work across multiple levels at the same time.

Layer One

01

We Are Youth Mentors as the Sector's Voice

What We Are Youth Mentors does in its own right using platform data, practice insight, and membership credibility.

  • Annual State of Youth Mentoring Report as a sector evidence source
  • Formal consultation responses to government and regulators
  • Position statements and open letters on youth policy decisions
  • Parliamentary briefings, engagement, and committee evidence pathways
  • Public commentary on issues affecting young people

Layer Two

02

Building Member Capacity to Advocate

Practical resources for members to advocate locally and nationally for young people and mentoring provision.

  • Policy Advocacy Toolkit with practical step-by-step guidance
  • AI-assisted support for letters, briefs, and responses
  • Templates for local authorities, commissioners, and MPs
  • Campaign packs for common youth policy issues
  • Advocacy CPD pathways in the Academy

Layer Three

03

Youth Voice and Young People's Advocacy

Resources that help youth mentors support young people to advocate in their own voice.

  • Mentor guidance for youth-led advocacy in safe, structured ways
  • Templates for young people to contact MPs and councillors
  • Guides to youth councils, parliaments, and consultation routes
  • Support pathways for giving evidence to public bodies
  • Stories and examples of youth-led policy influence
